The Georgia Horse Welfare Coalition is an ad hoc group of concerned horse people from throughout Georgia
dedicated to helping horse owners struggling to provide for their animals, and saving as many horses as possible
from abuse, abandonment and neglect.
The purpose is to provide established horse rescue organizations, sanctuaries, law enforcement agencies, and
horse owners facing financial hardship, with temporary hay and feed assistance: and further, to assist such entities
and individuals in planning for the future.
This statewide program will strive to provide the following:
- "Hay Bank” Assistance with food for those qualifying
- Assessment of Horse Situations, working with local law enforcements, animal controls, government officials, etc.
- Rescue/transport/temporary foster
- Education for the volunteers and the public
- Other assistance such as veterinary assistance and euthanasia
Everyone is welcome to help in this effort to help horses. Included in the effort will be veterinarians, horse farms
and ranches, breeders, rescue groups, feed stores, feed manufacturers, hay suppliers, farriers, blacksmiths and general
volunteers. We invite everyone with resources, ideas, energy, talents, or donations of food and funds to participate in
our efforts to help needy horses and other equines.
